As a high school student, I published my own music mag called "The Hip Key," which was primarily distributed throughout Virginia. I did a number of artist interviews over the four years of the mag's circulation; but Cyndi Lauper was my first "big" one -- and to this day, one of the best! It was such a great experience because she was very open and candid, and not rushed at all. In this first segment, Cyndi talks about her musical beginnings; her thoughts on the Catholic church; her support for gays; and Blue Angel -- among other topics. This interview was conducted shortly after the US release of her greatest-hits CD, "Twelve Deadly Cyns and Then Some."
